About Us

Why is there a need for ICC?

Throughout our community and the country, the rates of children with special needs are skyrocketing. Systems are being overwhelmed. Budgets are over-extended. Children are falling through the cracks. Families are struggling with the unique challenges and opportunities of having a child with disabilities. In order for all children with special needs to have the opportunities they deserve, every facet of our community – government, schools, doctors, families, and community organizations – must find creative and effective ways to help support these children.

ICC was created to provide a family-focused, multi-disciplinary approach to each child. We do not focus on a diagnosis. We focus on the whole child. Our staff consists of highly-skilled and experienced physical, occupational, speech and language therapists, social workers, art therapists and educational specialists – all passionately committed to ensuring that each child reaches his or her fullest potential.

Mission

ICC is a nonprofit organization that imagines the capacity of a child with special needs when parents, educators, peers and the community have a wide and diverse range of tools to support that child reaching his or her fullest potential. The tools we offer include individualized therapy, education and community partnerships that foster inclusion, acceptance and independence.

Our Programs

Our approach is family-focused – that is, we believe that families can provide the best care for their children and should be empowered to reclaim both quality of life and hope for the future. Our programs, therefore, start with the needs of the family. We believe in the importance of building strong and lasting relationships between and among children, family, schools and the community.

Children

Our primary goal is to help children who struggle with social, emotional, cognitive or physical development in some way that inhibits their ability to forge relationships and fully function in our community. Our programs address a wide range of challenges, including learning, communicating, anger-management, building relationships, eating, reading, movement and regulation. Our staff has expertise in helping children with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, cerebral palsy, ADHD, Down syndrome, sensory integration disorder, bipolar disorder, at-risk children who have experienced trauma, and many other challenges that lead to emotional, social or developmental delays.

Families

Nowhere is the overwhelming impact of having a child with a disability felt more strongly than in the family. ICC gives families the tools they need to move beyond a diagnosis and reclaim their quality of life.

Schools

ICC consults with school staff to make sure that they have the tools they need to support, include and help their students with social, emotional or developmental challenges to thrive.

Community

Children with disabilities have a great deal to contribute and deserve to be understood and embraced by the entire community. ICC partners with community recreation destinations so that they are equipped to provide their services to all children.
